Abstract: Objective: To observe the impact of solution-focused therapy combined with teach-back on the activities of daily living (ADL) in stroke patients with hemiplegia. Methods: A total of 106 stroke patients with hemiplegia were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group, with 53 patients in each group. The control group received routine comprehensive rehabilitation nursing, while the experimental group received an intervention using solution-focused therapy combined with teach-back, in addition to routine comprehensive rehabilitation nursing. The Modified Barthel Index (MBI), Lovett muscle strength grading, and Brunnstrom stages were assessed before the intervention and again 21 days after the intervention. Statistical analysis was performed using t-tests and chi-square tests. Results: The Modified Barthel Index in the experimental group significantly increased, particularly in the areas of dressing, toileting, and bed-chair transfer abilities, with statistically significant improvements (all p < 0.05). The distal muscle strength of the upper and lower limbs in the Lovett muscle strength grading also showed significant improvement (both p < 0.05). Furthermore, the Brunnstrom stages of both the upper and lower limbs showed significant improvement (both p < 0.05). Conclusion: Solution-focused therapy combined with teach-back has a significant positive impact on improving the ADL of stroke patients with hemiplegia. It also shows effectiveness in enhancing the Lovett muscle strength grading and Brunnstrom stages. This method is simple and easy to promote. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.51505/ijmshr.2024.8502 |
